Richard Clissold-Vasey helps Strategy Directors and sustainability leaders identify where climate-related pressures are not yet properly built into planning, governance and decision-making.

Background

Richard brings over 25 years of experience in business transformation, strategy execution and organisational change.

He has led complex transformation, governance and operating model change across global and private equity-backed organisations, helping leadership teams improve execution, strengthen decision-making and translate strategic ambition into operational delivery.

That experience now shapes his work on climate integration.

Many organisations recognise climate as strategically important, but still struggle to build climate-related pressures into the systems that guide planning, investment, prioritisation and delivery.

Richard’s work focuses on helping organisations close that gap.

Why this work matters

Richard believes businesses have a critical role to play in addressing climate change and wider pressures on natural systems.

But he also believes organisations are unlikely to respond effectively if climate continues to sit mainly within reporting, disclosure and sustainability workstreams.

Climate-related pressures increasingly shape costs, resilience, investment decisions, supply chains, operating models and long-term enterprise value. As a result, they need to be built into the systems through which organisations plan, prioritise, allocate capital and manage performance.

This is the focus of Richard’s work: helping organisations move climate from the edges of the enterprise into the decisions that shape what the business actually does.

Current focus

Today, Richard focuses on how climate-related risks, resource pressures and transition economics should be built into strategy, planning and transformation.

Many organisations now recognise climate as strategically important, but these pressures still sit outside the systems that guide investment, prioritisation, governance and delivery.

Richard’s work focuses on helping organisations close that gap, so climate becomes part of how the business plans, decides and executes, not a parallel sustainability agenda.

This work is most relevant for

  • Strategy Directors

  • Chief Sustainability Officers and sustainability leaders

  • Business and transformation leaders responsible for planning, governance and enterprise change

His work is particularly relevant for organisations that recognise climate, resource, regulatory or transition pressures are becoming material to business performance, but have not yet fully built those variables into how the organisation plans, decides, invests and delivers.

This often includes engagement with executive teams, COOs and Boards where climate integration requires changes to governance, investment decisions, operating models or enterprise prioritisation.

How he works

Richard combines advisory support with facilitated implementation.

The work usually starts by identifying where current planning, governance and decision-making systems are causing material climate-related risks, constraints or opportunities to be missed or underweighted.

From there, the focus shifts to prioritising and gaining buy-in to the changes needed,  then facilitating their implementation - drawing from the Integrated Value Planning process design and governance.
